The Second Time Around

And so it begins

This past weekend I had my first illness of this pregnancy. Boy, that sure didn't take very long. I came down with a fever that would just not go away. For 3 days I could not get my temperature below 100 degrees, and at one point it was as high as 102.4 degrees. Scared me enough to call the triage nurses station at the hospital, and I felt kind of dumb calling them because I had not even had my first OB appointment yet. Along with the fever came chills, body aches, and nausea. Chris was great through it all. Luckily it was over the weekend and neither of us were working (a rarity), so he could take Eli most of time. I definitely was not in the shape to do it.

Most of my symptoms have now subsided. Except, of course, the nausea. My goodness, I feel horrible. I swear it was not this bad last time, though it has gotten better slowly over the past couple of days. It has pretty much been a constant throughout the entire day, although the bad times are early in the morning and after dinner. Worst is just before bed. Unfortunately crackers really don't help.

The good news is that I am losing weight because I am eating about 1/3 of what I used to eat. Maybe I can keep my weight gain down to the recommended 25-35 lbs this time.
